The xx – xx | Vinyl

The xx’s xx builds an intimate world from spare guitar lines, deep bass, restrained electronic beats, and the interplay of Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim’s vocals. Rather than filling every space, the songs let quiet details carry the emotion, creating a late-night atmosphere that feels both understated and absorbing. The instrumental “Intro” sets the mood before “VCR,” “Crystalised,” and “Islands” draw listeners into the album’s blend of indie pop, electronic textures, and hushed R&B influences.

“Heart Skipped a Beat” and “Shelter” bring vulnerability to the foreground, while “Basic Space” and “Infinity” stretch the record’s minimal arrangements into moments of tension and release. Closing with “Night Time” and “Stars,” the album rewards an uninterrupted listen, with each small shift in rhythm or vocal phrasing given room to register. This vinyl edition is a fitting addition for listeners who favor atmospheric songwriting and records that reveal more with repeated plays.
